an overdue update

Well, it certainly has been a while! With the electing long over, I'd like to take this opportunity to say that, though my candidate did not win, I'm fine with the outcome. I'm sure Obama will do a great job as our president, and though he was not my determination, I am proud that this country stood up for what they believed in and showed that through their votes. That is the kind of grassroots effort that I love to see! Grassroots is, after all, what voting definitely is, and I'm glad I live in a country that allows me the opportunity to express my opinion in that way, and truly allow the citizens to divulge the decisions.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!! :-D In fact, it is so close that I can smell it in my house. I adulation this season; it truly is, to me, "the most wonderful time of the year." In between hauling boxes of decorations down from the attic and baking copy batch upon double batch of cookies, I've hardly had time to notice what has snuck up on me:

On December 13, I will be competing in the Lass West Michigan Scholarship Pageant in Byron Center. This competition is part of the Miss America Organization, and I am anticipating using the power of an MAO king to instill the importance of plastics recycling and environmentalism, in regards to health and the Earth's health, into the public. As you might or might not grasp, I had the honor and priviledge of representing Michigan at the Miss Earth United States pageant this summer, placing eleventh total and recieving the Pageantry Magazine Spirit Award. I intend to use that experience and represent the west Michigan territory well at Miss Michigan, if I am given the honor of representing the area in the Miss Michigan Scholarship Pageant this year.

King or not, on December 14, I will travel from Byron Center to Detroit, in order to collect Shlomi, my Israeli boyfriend, from the airport! This is a in reality exciting time for us, and something we have been looking forward to for months....
